Teen Tzedakah
|
Teen Tzedakah, a project of the Frank and Fred Friedman Family Foundation Fund, is beginning its initial year with a kickoff program for teen participants at 12:15 pm Sunday September 25th with a pizza lunch in the board room of the LJCC. Special guest will be Ben Zauzmer, a 13-year-old from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even if you have not yet signed up to participate in Teen Tzedakah – you are welcome to attend the first program. Please RSVP to Joyce Spielberger at 879-0416 or joyces@bjf.org. Teen Tzedakah is a Jewish youth philanthropy program where any teen, grade 7-12, can start a fund in the Birmingham Jewish Foundation. This fund will be matched by the Frank and Fred Friedman Family Foundation up to $250. Throughout the year, Teen Tzedakah participants will take part in creative programming and activities designed to teach them about philanthropic giving, engage them in charitable work and educate them about various charities. They personally will recommend where they would like the proceeds from the funds to be donated based on their personal concerns and interests. Should
you wish to participate, but foresee hardship in raising the initial
$250, call Joyce Spielberger at 879-0416 or Cynthia Tobias at 879-1664. |
